Hockey Pipeline — Prospect Lookup: Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Hockey Pipeline — Prospect Lookup is a browser extension that helps you look
up NHL Draft prospect information from
hockeypipeline.com. We designed it to
collect as little as possible.
What the extension does
-
Search & cards. When you search or open a prospect, the extension
requests that prospect's public data from the Hockey Pipeline API. Your
recent searches are stored only on your device (
chrome.storage.local)
for convenience and can be cleared at any time.
-
On-page highlighting (X-Ray). On a small set of draft sites
(EliteProspects, Daily Faceoff, Hockey Pipeline) the extension reads the
page's visible text on your device to underline prospect names. On
any other page, this happens only when you explicitly click “Highlight
prospects on this page.” Page text is matched locally and is
never transmitted or stored.
What we collect
Nothing personally identifiable. The extension has no analytics, no
accounts, and no tracking. It does not send your browsing history, page
content, or identity anywhere. The only network requests are public,
anonymous reads of prospect data from the Hockey Pipeline API.
Permissions
storage — save recent searches and cache the prospect list on your device.
activeTab / scripting — highlight prospects on a page when you ask.
sidePanel — show the "prospects on this page" list.
- Host access is limited to the Hockey Pipeline API endpoint. An
optional per-site permission is requested only when you click
“Scan this page” in the side panel on a non-hockey site — Chrome asks you
to allow that one site, and nothing is read until you agree.
